OneNote GTD Project Template

After my post on “Bending OneNote and Outlook to Fit my GTD System” I got a few requests to share the actual project template file. You can download the file here: OneNote Project Template File

NOTE: I make no guarantees related to this file or its suitability for any particular purpose. If your computer implodes, or your cat dies, I won’t be able to help you.

Here are some instructions to install the template:

  1. Save the “Project Template.one” file to your desktop, then double-click to open it in OneNote
  2. From the “Format” menu, select “Templates…” to open the Templates task pane
  3. Select “Save current page as a template” and give it a meaningful name
  4. Right click on the “Project Template” tab and select “Close” to close the downloaded file and return to OneNote.
  5. Navigate to your @PROJECTS tab and re-open the Templates pane if it was closed. Your new template should now appear in the list under “My Templates”
  6. Under “Choose default template” at the bottom of the pane, select the template you just added

Now whenever you click “New Page” in the @PROJECTS section, it will come up with this template. Just assign a tag and project title, change some of the default text, and start getting things done! BTW, if someone has a simpler way to add this template to OneNote, please post a comment with your tested instructions below : )
